Richardson, Nash lift Suns past Garnett, Celtics

BOSTON -- Jason Richardson and the Phoenix Suns had no trouble putting their only loss of the season behind them, even against the unbeaten Boston Celtics.

One game after going scoreless for just the third time in his career, Richardson had 34 points and 10 rebounds to lead Phoenix to a 110-103 victory over the Celtics on Friday night. Richardson hit a 3-pointer for the Suns' first points and scored 14 in the first quarter alone.

"They could see after the first that I had the stroke going," Richardson said. "In this offense, every night it's going to be someone different. It was a feel tonight, like everything you throw up is going to go in. I wanted to come out, be aggressive and take it from there."

Nuggets fall for first time behind balanced Heat attack

MIAMI -- By the time Dwyane Wade got rolling, the Miami Heat were already in control.

That's just fine with the reigning NBA scoring champion.

Wade scored 22 points, Jermaine O'Neal added 18 and the Heat dealt the Denver Nuggets their first loss of the season, 96-88 on Friday night.

Mario Chalmers scored 16 points, Quentin Richardson added 13 and Udonis Haslem finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Heat, who are 5-1 for only the third time in their 22 seasons and beat Denver for the first time since Dec. 17, 2004.

"As I continue to keep saying, it's going to take that for us to be successful," Wade said of the balanced scoring punch. "I enjoyed it. I really did."

Detroit Pistons vs Orlando Magic

Detroit (2-3) at Orlando (4-1)

When Detroit and Orlando met three nights ago, the Pistons knew to have any chance at winning, they needed to level the playing field and make Magic center Dwight Howard(notes) a non-factor. The strategy worked and Detroit won.

After bouncing back from that disappointing defeat with an impressive performance, Howard and the Magic look to avenge their only loss of the season when they host the Pistons on Friday night.

With Howard receiving minimal resistance, Orlando (4-1) had little trouble winning its first three games as the three-time All-Star averaged 21.7 points on 62.9 percent shooting and 16.0 rebounds.

The Pistons (2-3) offered the intimidating big man a much stiffer test Tuesday.
