Pacquiao OKs May 13 bout vs Mayweather
Cowboys lobby to host fight
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said he's still interested in hosting the proposed Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather fight at Cowboys Stadium.
Mayweather, according to multiple sources, has agreed to the fight. Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum flew to the Philippines on Tuesday night to finalize the deal.
A site for the bout hasn't been determined. Las Vegas, New Orleans and Arlington have expressed interest.
"We tentatively are still desirous of looking at what we can do here with the fight here," Jones said.
The proposed date is March 13, although there is a chance it could move to May 1, sources said.
After Top Rank Promotions Pres. Bob Arum and Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer met and agreed, the Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. match is slated on May 2, 2010, according to reports.
It was also reported that the Pacquiao-Mayweather Jr. bout will find its way to Pacman's homeland, the Philippines.
Sources from Pacquiao's camp, however, said that if a Pacquiao vs Mayweather fight will happen in 2010, it will not be scheduled until after the May 10, 2010 Philippine elections are over.
Manny has expressed his desire to seek public office by running as congressman in Sarangani province in next year's poll.
